Prayer and Worship Commission

What we do
The Prayer and Worship Commission of Blessed Savior Congregation assists and advises the staff in planning and creating meaningful, prayerful and creative Liturgies.

Altar Server Ministry

Altar servers who assist the Celebrant at Mass (candidates must have celebrated First Communion).

Liturgical Art & Environment Ministry

Environment committee members who create a liturgical environment in the worship space to coincide with the changing liturgical seasons such as Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and Ordinary time. These changes help to create meaningful environments that provide opportunities for reflection and inspiration in the worship space.

Eucharistic Ministers

Eucharistic Ministers who distribute Eucharist in the forms of bread and wine to parishioners at Communion time at each Mass. They also wash the utensils after Mass and either reset the bowls and cups for the next Mass or put them away after the last Mass. Eucharistic Ministers are scheduled on a rotating basis.

Lector Ministry

Lectors who proclaim the Word at each Mass. Two lectors read at each Mass, one reading from the Old Testament, the other from the New Testament. Each lector also reads half the intercessions after the homily. Lectors are scheduled on a rotating basis.

Music Ministry

Music Ministry includes the adult choir, cantors, and instrumentalists. These music ministers serve the Blessed Savior community, striving to enhance worship through the skills of well-trained musicians.

Ushers/Greeter Ministry

Ushers and Greeters welcome the assembly, assist with the distribution of the Orders of Worship and weekly bulletins, help with seating and the distribution of listening devices, collect offerings, coordinate gift bearers, lock doors, and generally assist as needed.

Advent is the time to go within our inner rooms, within the household of ourselves, and begin to discover that light or ignite that light all over again.  To warm ourselves up with the hope this Christ brings, which is the gift of love. Big love. Little love. Any love at all. We have to start somewhere, anywhere.
